Dance workshop with Yohann Hebi Daher

A hip-hop-trained dancer and choreographer, Yohann Hebi Daher began his training in 2001 with Bad Trip Crew. He has collaborated with numerous choreographers and companies, including Ballet d’Europe, Dyptik, Emanuelle Soum, Amy Gardner and Marion Motin. His multidisciplinary choreographic practice focuses on the invisible mechanisms that shape the encounter between our bodies, and on what they communicate beyond words. Going beyond the stage is essential to his research, and he enjoys bringing dance to people for whom it does not necessarily come naturally: school students, people living with illness, prisoners, and others.

This workshop invites participants to seek out their inner non-dancer, in order to find the sincerity within and reshape their dance. We will explore freestyle, the intention that creates movement, non-verbal exchange between two bodies, and finally play as a group with a choreographic phrase. The workshop calls for a deep commitment to embodying a story or an emotion to be conveyed, and for the ability to move beyond technical gesture.
